This summer we have introduced two new products into the irrigation systems we install. They have been very successful and we now want to offer to our existing clients the same opportunity to save even more water and money. Both of these products are from companies whose products we have been using for 20 plus years and reflect the ongoing improvement in irrigation technology driven by the increasing pressure on water supplies everywhere, even here in the Northwest.
The first product is the new nozzle system called MP Rotators. These can be retrofitted to pop up spray sprinklers and will greatly increase the efficiency with which water is applied to your landscape. Increased efficiency means less time that your irrigation system is on and this means less water through the meter. Instead of water spraying out of a static spray nozzle, revolving streams apply the water more slowly and uniformly, produce less misting and allow greater adjustment to both radius and arc. This allows water to soak in before running off and being wasted. Water audits have shown water usage can be reduced by as much as 30% of current levels with MP Rotators.
The second product is a new Smart Controller Module that can be retrofitted into most existing Rainbird Controllers. Our existing systems shut off when rain falls but this controller measures the rainfall, determines its effectiveness and calculates a replacement value to eliminate over or under watering. It also allows far greater customization of zones; factoring in soil type, location, slope, plant type/density, sun exposure, sprinkler type and root-depth requirements. Based on this zone-specific data, the ESP-SMT controller engine optimizes the irrigation schedule to promote lush, healthy plant material in each station, while substantially reducing water waste and runoff. This controller qualifies as a Smart Controller for the Saving Water Partnership rebate program. Rebates depend on the city in which you are located and whether your system has been operational for at least two years. More information is available on their website, at http://www.savingwater.org/rebate1.htm.

Most counties require a permit for your landscaping projects. Some projects that may require permitting include: decks, walls, outdoor fireplaces, irrigation systems, tree removal, fencing, and many others. The process of gaining the proper permit can be complex and difficult causing landscape construction to slow. Your project can be expedited by allowing our experienced landscape staff to help you with this process. We understand our clients, their goals, and their project which will help to gain a permit much more quickly.
Our potted arrangements cohesively fill the empty spaces of your outdoor areas. These can frame your front door, pool, or an upstairs balcony. A potted arrangement will personalize your patio or fill in dark corners. We will come to your home and help you choose the right pots and plants for your space. We then plant the pots with premium soil, fertilizer, and polymer water crystals. This process is done at your home to ensure the process is most convenient for you.
If you have ever considered growing your own vegetables, herbs and fruits, we can help you to make that a reality. Installing a raised bed is often a practical and attractive approach to raising food in the city. The soil can be amended to provide the proper structure and nutrients necessary for growing vegetables. Lifestyle Landscapes will design and install vegetable beds and trellises that are attractive year round, and ready for you in the spring.
